Throughout middle and high school, I was an avid reader. However, I could not comprehend what I read or pass reading tests...until I learned specific reading and thinking strategies that ABSOLUTELY WORK! That's when I knew I wanted to help students become better readers. I coach students to train their brains to use strategies to help them stayed focused on the text. This increases comprehension!

I teach students like a coach coaches players! A typical lesson includes:
1. Warm-up or a review of previous strategies
2. I demonstrate a particular reading/writing/thinking strategy
3. I practice the strategy with the student
4. I observe the student use the strategy independently
5. I give feedback
