About Joshua
I am a third year viola student at the University of Minnesota - Twin Cities. I have 4 years of teaching experience with kids and adults. I have played professionally for 5 years, both in professional orchestras and mentoring youth ensembles. Aside from viola, I have keyboard experience in both piano and organ. I have 3 years experience as a church pianist/organist.

I approach each lesson tailored to who I am working with. Upon meeting the student, I will ask for them to play just a short "snapshot" of music they have been working on. If they have never played an instrument before, I will ask about their knowledge of music, if they have any. I do not require previous musical knowledge - I am willing to teach from beginner to intermediate-advanced students.
Students will be given exercises such as scales, etudes, short pieces, etc. to be prepared for each lesson. Completion of said exercises will depend on the students practice time.

Details
Students have two options for paying: up-front monthly for one lesson per week, or per lesson.
Cancellation Policy: Students who cancel ahead of time can make up a lesson that fits with mine and their schedule. If payed ahead of time and there was a missed lesson with no attempt to reschedule or any kind of communication results in a payed-missed lesson with no refund.
If I ever have to cancel a lesson due to a personal reason, students will be offered a make-up time. If I cancel and we can not come up with a make-up time, that student will be refunded if they payed ahead of time, or there will be no charge for that week.
Students that would like a weekly lesson are expected to be punctual and ready. Regardless of whether lessons are held in-house or via webcam, I ask that you respect my time, and I will respect yours.
