About Sophie
I am a native speaker of both the Vietnamese and Mandarin languages. I graduated from Wuhan University (in China) with a PhD in Applied Linguistics, where I focused on comparative linguistics and pedagogy for both languages. I also have a Masters degree in Teaching Chinese as a Second Language. I have been teaching different programs and different languages (Vietnamese, Chinese and English) for eight years in private schools and universities in China, Vietnam and Canada.

I can use English to teach Vietnamese and Mandarin. While completing my bachelor's, master's and doctorate degrees in Wuhan, China, I also had experience in teaching Vietnamese and Mandarin to speakers of other languages. Most notably, I taught a wide range of international students with varying linguistic backgrounds in Central China Normal University and Wuhan University in a classroom and one-to-one basis for a period of three years. In addition, I also have hands-on experience teaching children. While in Wuhan, I acted as program director and curriculum coordinator for a private English language school directed toward teaching local elementary school students English. I also have experience teaching the Vietnamese language in Canada to adults, children and groups.
