About Aurora

"Aurora is the best tutor I’ve ever had. Although not being that much older than me, her wealth of experience and knowledge in teaching English and giving me advice makes it seem as if she’s been teaching for decades. She has taken my average of 50% in year 11 to around 85% + in year 12. I highly recommend Aurora to anyone of any level needing help in English. I can’t thank her enough for everything she has done for me." - Ryan "A great tutor indeed!!! I totally recommend Aurora. From year 11, my grades were sitting at around a C+ / B level for all sections (in the 2023 study design - text response, argument analysis and comparative). I am happy to say that with the vast amount of resources including guides on sentence and paragraph structures (ABC!), as well as her really REALLY detailed feedback (including SUPER FAST typing!!) and ‘harsh’ marking (in a good way!!), I was able to achieve a competitive ranking in my cohort, and in the final exams, achieving a 43 raw study score (I could not believe my eyes when I saw it on VTAC). From this, I noticed a huge change in my writing towards the end of the year, and hopefully will take this forward in my tertiary studies as well. I cannot thank her enough for the flexibility around tutoring sessions (when I wanted to extend the lessons!), and her feedback outside of our classes as well. Also gave insightful advice for uni haha." - William "As a STEM focused student, English was always the most daunting subject for me; however, Aurora helped me develop my writing skills and excel to a level I didn’t think I was capable of through her constant support and feedback throughout the year. I also appreciated having the flexibility to choose between in person and online classes to optimally suit my weekly schedule throughout year 12." - Johnny

Hey everyone! I'm Aurora and I graduated with a Raw 50, Premier's Award in English and 99.80 ATAR. I'm excited to announce that I'm offering quality and highly personalized tutoring during the holidays and academic year. Currently studying a Bachelor of Science Advanced Research (Honors) at Monash University, I have always been naturally more inclined towards STEM - I initially struggled with the subjectivity and tediousness of VCE English, and definitely sympathize with students that despise having to read texts and write essays that seem overly open-ended and abstract. In the lead-up to Year 12, however, I went from someone who struggled with English to someone who genuinely enjoyed it as a break from the full-on nature of her other subjects. While there's copious amounts of resources available online regarding essay structure and phrases to use in your essays, I believe that the most important and often overlooked element is how you approach English. I viewed the Text Response task as a discussion of the underlying 'philosophy' in a literary work, and the Analyzing Argument task as a deep-dive into the 'psychology' of persuasion; an albeit unconventional approach that worked for me. In addition to a solid understanding of the implicit criteria examiners look for, as well as nuanced ideas and the right vocabulary to express them, you CAN succeed. What to expect: • Classes designed specifically to target your weaknesses, getting to the root of the problem from the very first lesson • Training you to think deeply about ideas and concepts beyond the immediately obvious • The exact phrasing and 'formulas' I used to convey my ideas • Focusing on small details to make your essays stand out - metalanguage specific to plays/novels/films, analyzing syntax and punctuation, and more • Unlimited access to notes and handouts I created myself as well as from high-ranking schools • Breakdown of my 10/10 essays with extensive feedback from teachers and VCAA assessors • 24/7 comprehensive feedback to maximize improvement and prepare for even the most pedantic end-of-year examiner • Guidance for the creative SAC as well as for the oral SAC from an experienced debater and public speaker Location: Online Offerings: » Private 1:1 tutoring [limited spots available, inquire ASAP] I specialize in helping students who are struggling and/or frustrated by their lack of improvement. I am also keen to take on high achievers who want to go from the 7-8 range to the elusive 10s. As long as you have the genuine desire to improve, I look forward to teaching you! :)
