About Cian
I’m a jazz pianist and educator with 4 years of teaching experience and a DMA in Piano Performance. My teaching focuses on helping students reach the advanced skill level expected by programs like Berklee and Juilliard. I use a balanced approach that integrates classical technique, jazz vocabulary, improvisation, and deep listening practices. Students in my studio work on harmonic concepts, voicings, rhythmic development, improvisational fluency, and ear training. I also guide them through transcription projects and repertoire studies that build stylistic authenticity. Preparing for auditions is a key part of my work, and I help students refine pieces, develop confidence, and create artistic interpretations. I shape each lesson around the student’s goals and learning pace. I love watching students gain clarity, confidence, and personal voice in their playing. My ultimate focus is helping musicians unlock their full creative potential while strengthening the technical tools needed for advanced jazz performance.
