About Lyra
I have 3 years of guitar teaching experience and a Bachelor of Music in Composition with a guitar emphasis. I also compose and perform regularly, which informs my lessons. My philosophy is that music is a creative and lifelong skill. I specialize in acoustic fingerstyle and classical guitar. I teach both beginners and advanced students, guiding them toward technical skill and expressive depth. Lessons emphasize intricate arrangements, phrasing, and musical storytelling. I balance structured exercises with opportunities for creativity and exploration. Students gain confidence, fluency, and personal expression on the guitar. I encourage interpretation, improvisation, and artistic growth. Each lesson is tailored to individual goals and interests. My aim is to instill a lasting love for music and guitar. Together, we explore skill, nuance, and self-expression.

My teaching approach focuses on developing a strong ear for guitar. Students practice transcribing songs, melodic dictation, and recognizing intervals. Lessons include identifying chords, solos, and riffs by ear. The Campfire Strummer and Blues Seeker gain practical exercises to sharpen listening skills. I combine structured drills with active playing for immediate application. Students develop musical intuition, accuracy, and improvisational skills. Lessons progress gradually to build confidence and mastery. I encourage regular practice and attentive listening outside sessions. Students learn to reproduce melodies, chords, and riffs confidently. Feedback is tailored to refine accuracy and expression. Ear training becomes a foundation for creative and independent playing. By the end, learners can hear and play music intuitively. Lessons make music both fun and deeply understood.
