About Sunghee
With a background in psychology, I understand the importance of mentor figures in a student's life. I focus on facilitating a safe learning environment by using lots of positive reinforcement, so students can feel comfortable, confident, and engaged in class.
I understand that many students can feel discouraged in a course when they do not see certain results. I often see many students take on the mindset that intelligence and/or skillsets are fixed. This kind of mindset can be harmful in the student's ability to learn and improve. Therefore, I also help encourage students to adopt a more flexible mindset of "practice makes perfect." And that with the right attitude, guidance, and practice, anyone can achieve their desired results.

- I have 5 years of tutoring experience with hundreds of students in math, biology, chemistry, general sciences, psychology, SATs, and essay/writing editing
- Lessons are 1 on 1 for middle and high school students
- Lesson plans are catered individually to students based on their personal and specific goals. For example, a student that simply wants help in homework or understanding of course material may come in to ask questions; a student that likes to get ahead of class will receive personalized lectures to make learning in school a smooth experience (rather than playing catch up).
- My teaching methods involve asking students open ended or probing questions to help gauge student's understanding of material. Based on their understanding, I will guide students in the right direction. I do not give answers right away, but rather I help facilitate their learning through teaching and application of material. During online learning, I use lots of verbal as well as visual (diagrams) through zoom using annotation and screenshare features. I also encourage students to take notes during my class.
