About Lauren
Hi! My name is Lauren, and I’m an online English teacher from Cape Town, South Africa. I hold a 120-hour TEFL certificate and have been teaching English online since 2023, working with students from around the world, including Brazil, Turkey, Spain, France, and Réunion Island. I specialise in teaching children and teenagers, but I also enjoy helping adults improve their English for work, travel, or exams.
I didn’t plan to become a teacher at first. I come from a background in tourism, customer service, and creative work, but once I started teaching, I realised how much I love it. There’s something incredibly rewarding about helping a shy student speak with confidence or watching someone finally understand a grammar point that once felt impossible. My lessons are always personalised, supportive, and interactive, and I’m passionate about making English fun, practical, and empowering.

My teaching method is all about making English feel natural, practical, and enjoyable, whether you're a beginner learning the basics or a teen preparing for an exam. I focus on personalised, level-appropriate lessons that help students grow in confidence, fluency, and accuracy, step by step.
In a typical lesson, we'll start with a warm-up (like a fun speaking question or review), then move into the primary focus, which could be grammar, vocabulary, pronunciation, reading, writing, listening, or speaking. I use real-world topics, interactive games, roleplays, and visuals to make learning engaging and meaningful. You'll have plenty of time to speak, ask questions, and practice using English in a safe and supportive environment.
I also work with shy or nervous learners, helping them speak without fear and take pride in their progress. My lessons are convenient for children and teenagers, but I also teach adults who need English for travel, daily life, or work. I can explain lessons in English and Afrikaans, which helps students feel more comfortable if they're starting.

My standard rate for online lessons is R250 per hour, with discounted package options available:
5 hours – R1,200 (R240/hour)
10 hours – R2,300 (R230/hour)
For in-person lessons, a minimum travel fee of R200 applies. This fee may vary depending on your location and distance from Cape Town city centre. I’ll confirm the exact cost when you share your address.
All lesson materials (PDFs, flashcards, games, and practice tasks) are included in the rate; there are no hidden fees. You do not need to rent a classroom or equipment; I bring everything needed to ensure your lesson is smooth, structured, and effective.
