About Matthew
I have played the guitar for over 10 years. I have played in venues from The Armadillo, to the King's Theatre, to Sneaky Pete's. I have a passion for all guitar styles and consider myself a lifelong student.
I have taught guitar since I was in high-school, teaching younger students, through university and beyond. Some of my best achievements have been through the Creative musicianship course run by Edinburgh Napier. In that course, I prepare students for a full-band performance in which they perform overs and their own original songs.

I am committed to a song-based learning approach. From experience, I know that maintaining passion and interest is what helps technique develop effortlessly. As repertoire develops, I aim to incorporate improvisational fundamentals as soon as possible, giving you skills to independently learn and develop; learning by ear and learning how to create your own music.
I create my own materials and encourage students to tell me the songs, genres and techniques they want to explore.

Perfect! Matthew explained the basics well, making it easily understandable. He also used well considered examples that aided my understanding of notes and chords
