About Megan
I am currently in my second year at university studying law, but I always excelled at and adored English when I was at school, managing to secure two A*s at GCSE and an A at A Level. I have worked as a classroom assistant in English classes before, and have also mentored students who struggled with reading and analysing literature.

For KS1/KS2/KS3 students: I will try to help the student improve their comprehension skills, and work with them on their homework and classwork- really any issues they are having with English I would be more than happy to provide some guidance. I will also help them improve on the specific feedback their teachers are giving them.
For GCSE students: I would work with the student by reading through passages of their exam texts with them and helping them to analyse the language and themes present. I would then help them frame this analysis within the wider context of the text- (ie, the author's personal life, the culture of the time period when the book/poems were written and published, the wider impact of the text). I would read through the work they have done in class and build on the feedback from their teachers to help you improve. We would look closely at the exam guidelines and what the exam board expects from students and help cater the students answers to these criteria.
For younger students: I would help you with your comprehension skills, and work with you on your homework and classwork- really any issues you are having with English I would be more than happy to give you some guidance. I will also help you to improve on the specific feedback your teachers are giving you.

Details
Please be aware that if you want lessons at your home I will charge for the additional travel costs, but the amount will vary depending on how far from me your chosen location is. As a student who does not have a car, it simply would not be feasible for me to make journeys all around Birmingham using trains, buses or taxis if I'm only charging £10 an hour. I hope this is understandable.
