About Hugo
Aside from the fact that I’m a native Spaniard (the country where the language originated!), I have also had previous experience teaching both Spanish and English. I major in Cultural Studies, and so I can teach anything from the humanities (philosophy, anthropology, art history, history, literature… you know, all the cool stuff!), and could also teach them in Spanish! Think about it: what’s better than knowing about Goya, Velázquez, Cervantes, Lorca… than to learn them in their native tongue? I have also taught all of those subjects before. My experience has been with High School kids (from 8th to grade 12), but I can definitely teach lower and higher grades (even college). Based in Manhattan.

From past experiences with other tutoring jobs, I have learned that the best way to learn is to create a safe and trusting environment for the kids. I like to develop a bond with my pupils, so that we can make lessons feel less heavy but insightful at the same time. In my experience this is the best way for kids to feel excited and eager to learn, which is essentially my job. However there are of course some rules. In my lesson time I will only talk in Spanish (depending of course on level, if they are younger or more inexperienced I can help a little). Usually lesson times go from one hour to two. An hour and a half has been the most productive in past cases.
