About Aditya
Hi there! I'm Adi, a current MSc Applied Cancer Science student at the University of Oxford and a recent BSc Medical Bioscience Graduate of Imperial College London. Having gone through the IB Diploma Programme myself, I can testify to the fact that it is a truly rigorous but ultimately worthwhile qualification. Upon completing my IB exams in May 2022, I received a perfect score of 45 points, which would not have been possible without my incredible tutors at the time. I hope to offer you the same support that I was so lucky to receive from my tutoring team! I believe that my strong educational history has supplied me with the necessary theoretical knowledge to help students achieve academic success and meet their personal goals. In my high school years, I became deeply fascinated with the intersection of biology and chemistry in biomedicine, which led me to take IB HL Biology and Chemistry in school and subsequently pursue my Bachelor's in Medical Biosciences. Over the three years of my degree, I was awarded the Year 1 Academic Excellence Prize, for achieving the highest overall score in my cohort of over 200 students, and Year 2 Dean's List Award, for placing in the top 10% of my year group, before finally graduating with First Class Honours. I have also gained extensive tutoring experience over the past three years, and additionally volunteered with schools and NGOs to teach and develop educational workshops for students. As a private tutor, I have worked with students in Taiwan, Hong Kong, and Indonesia, delivering tailored lessons in IB Biology and Chemistry, as well as designing preparatory courses for younger students who want to learn ahead prior to beginning the IB programme. My volunteer work, ranging from collaborating with NGOs, to deliver Biology lessons to underprivileged youth in India, to working with international schools in Singapore to educate the future generation of scientists about cancer biology, has complemented my tutoring background well. I have been very lucky to work remotely with students from all over the world, which has made me even more sensitive to students' individual students and taught me how to deconstruct scientific concepts in many different ways, so as to best explain it to the unique student. The more work I have done in this area over the years, the more it has cemented the importance of science education in my mind. I hope to spread this message to you and continue teaching many more students in the future!

Over the past three years, I have tutored numerous international students undertaking HL Biology and Chemistry for the IB diploma programme. Having worked with students in Taiwan, Hong Kong, Indonesia, Singapore, and India, I have become very comfortable with teaching remotely, mainly via Google Meets or Zoom, while accommodating time differences. Though my lesson plans are flexible based on student needs, my sessions typically involve highlighting and annotating textbook sections to comprehensively address examinable learning outcomes, drawing diagrams and using educational videos to visualise complex concepts, as well as using past paper questions and regular learning checks to evaluate student understanding, providing targeted support and active learning opportunities. Therefore, I use a holistic approach that caters broadly to different learning styles, culminating in a better overall understanding of the topics covered. I hope to apply these strategies to support you in your academic journey!
