About Khayelihle
I'm currently a final year Bachelor of Education (BEd) student at the University of Johannesburg, specializing in Geography, Life Sciences, and Natural Sciences. I believe that education is one of the most powerful tools for transforming societies and empowering individuals. I'm driven by purpose, guided by curiosity, and always ready to learn, lead, and make a positive impact. When I'm not diving into lesson plans or exploring ecosystems and map contours, I enjoy staying active on the sports field, experimenting with new recipes in the kitchen, and putting together a sharp outfit. I'm also a big fan of travel, as I believe the best way to teach about the world is to experience it. Education & Achievements I am dedicated to excellence in my studies, as demonstrated by several awards: Bachelor of Education (BEd): Currently studying at the University of Johannesburg (2022-2026). Academic Awards: I was recognized as one of the Ujenius top 1% (2023) and was placed in the Geography top 10 in both 2023 and 2024. Matric: Completed Secondary School in 2021, achieving 7 distinctions and being awarded Matric Student. Certificates: I have completed short courses in subjects like Artificial Intelligence in the 4IR, Introduction to the Sustainable Development Goals, African Insights (NQF Level 5), and hold a Level 1 Tutor Certificate from the University of Johannesburg. Experience & Skills My experience centers on practical, engaging, and supportive educational roles: Teaching and Tutoring Experience Online Tutoring (Valerie Dynamic Tutoring): From 2024-2025, I provided online tutoring across secondary school subjects, with a specialization in Geography and Life Sciences. I design engaging, interactive sessions tailored to diverse learning styles (visual, auditory, kinesthetic) and mentor learners to improve their study skills and subject confidence. Teaching Practice (Work Integrated Learning): Between 2023 and 2025, I taught and observed lessons in Geography, Life Sciences, and Natural Sciences for Grades 8-12. I applied various teaching strategies, including lectures, collaborative learning, and fieldwork, and gained experience in designing and assessing lesson activities. Voluntary Work: I contribute to community upliftment initiatives through Classroom buddies (Ongoing 2023-2025) and served as a Youth Leader for Mamkhulu.org (2020), where I engaged with marginalized school children through mentorship and support programs. Core Skills Teaching & Pedagogical Skills: I'm proficient in lesson planning and curriculum alignment (CAPS), classroom management, and designing effective assessment (formative & summative). I utilize differentiated instruction and employ inquiry-based and collaborative learning strategies. Digital & Technical Skills: I'm proficient in the Microsoft Office Suite (Word, PowerPoint, Excel) and use interactive teaching tools like Kahoot, Blooket, Quizlet, Google Classroom, and MS Teams. Soft Skills: I possess strong leadership and teamwork abilities, excellent communication and presentation skills, and a commitment to creativity, critical thinking, and problem-solving.
