About Samuel
Hi, I'm Samuel, a maths enthusiast who is currently studying Mathematics BSc at The University of Bath.
I recently sat my Advanced Higher exams, and scored AAB in maths, mechanics and physics respectively. On top of that I have enjoyed volunteering in maths classes ranging from s1 to s5, meaning that I am suited to teaching and understanding high school students at any age/level who need help with their studies.
I am a confident speaker and teacher, but also understand that every student needs to be taught in their own unique way and sometimes it's more important for the tutor to listen than speak. I love understanding how different maths students can see one question in so many ways, none of which are inherently wrong. I believe that everyone can learn to love this beautiful subject, and even if they refuse to, at least get a grade in it that they can be proud of. This is what I will aim to achieve with every one of my students.

My lessons are tailored to each student’s level, goals and confidence. I focus on building a genuine understanding of the underlying ideas rather than simply memorising methods, while also developing strong exam technique and problem-solving skills.
Lessons can cover Mathematics, Physics and Mechanics up to SQA Advanced Higher / A level equivalent level. I’m happy to focus on specific topics a student is struggling with, go through past-paper questions, reinforce material from school, or provide more challenging questions for students aiming for top grades.
As a recent Advanced Higher student myself, I’m very familiar with the Scottish curriculum and the types of questions students are likely to encounter in exams. I aim to make lessons relaxed, clear and interactive, with plenty of opportunity to ask questions and explore different approaches to a problem.
