About Olivia
I am currently in my first year as an undergraduate student at Northern Arizona University in the honors college, with a major in chemistry, an emphasis in biochemistry, and a minor in music. Despite this, my learning methods throughout high school put me about a year ahead in my university credits, allowing me to teach AP classes and entry-level college classes in the STEM field. I love to teach others and help people through understanding of topics. I believe that the reason for many people's struggles in any point of a student's career is largely due to a lacking teacher that does not know how to create a student-based approach. As a student myself, I am able to understand the students and their struggles and gently guide them to success.

I believe the key to success in school is to truly understand the topic at hand. In my teaching, I don't believe in pure memorization of topics, as this can consume a lot of time and is not effective. Alternatively, I encourage students to open their minds to critical thinking and if they begin to truly understand the topics, memorization will follow. My lesson plans will follow the student's school curriculum, while opening the student to one-on-one time for questions and allowing me to explain the topic from a different perspective than their school teacher. I can teach many subjects in the middle school through high school level: math, English, physical sciences, and music theory. I can also teach entry-level college/high school AP courses such as chemistry I and II, biology I and II, physics I, and calculus I. My goal is to work with the student and incorporate a student-specific approach that is unique to each individual, allowing for a different perspective on the learning.
