About Emma
I am an Art History Specialist, Researcher, and commercial expert with over a decade of teaching experience, working with students from GCSE to postgraduate level. My own undergraduate and postgraduate theses have been published, and I bring eight years' professional experience in museums, galleries, and research. I am currently a fully funded PhD candidate in Art History at University College London (UCL).
My students consistently achieve top results: GCSE grades 7–9, A–A* at A-Level, and high 2:1s and Firsts at university. I have been tutoring students for over 10 years and bring a great knowledge of exam strategy and writing knowledge to my lessons.
I have extensive experience covering the Cambridge IGCSE, AQA and Edexcel (GCSE and A Level) exam boards for History and Edexcel for History of Art.
Passionate, motivated, and student-focused, I aim to foster both academic excellence and confidence. Whether you're targeting a university offer, pushing for top grades, or deepening your engagement with a subject, I will work with you to achieve your best. I am also able to provide advice and guidance on scholarship and university applications, having received multiple scholarship offers from the top UK universities.

I work with students from Key Stage 3 through to university level, with a clear focus on building both subject mastery and academic confidence. My approach is structured, targeted, and collaborative. For each student, I create carefully prepared lesson plans in advance, tailored to their needs and goals. These plans typically incorporate a balance of essay planning and writing, content consolidation, revision strategies, curriculum coverage, and guided outside reading to deepen subject engagement.
In our first session, we will discuss the areas you wish to improve, your expectations, and the timeframe in which you hope to see results. From there, we will work systematically - through essay review, practice papers (where appropriate), revision timetabling, and writing structure workshops - to build precision and clarity in your academic work.
While I bring academic rigour to my lessons, I also believe that enjoyment is key to success. A genuine interest in the subject fuels motivation, and motivation drives results. My aim is to make learning not only productive but engaging, breaking down complex topics into manageable, focused steps so that you leave each session feeling more confident and prepared.

Emma tutored my son for his History undergraduate first year exams and was able to give him the knowledge, approach, and strategy he needed to boost his confidence and thus improve his grades. He received a 1st in two of his exams which we never thought was going to be possible. Thank you Emma!
Emma tutored me in Art History for a period of six months including help with coursework, exam prep and essay structure. She was a huge help, and really increased my knowledge and confidence in the subject. I was really able to solidify my understanding of university level essay structure which really impacted my degree.
Highly recommended History tutor! Emma tutored my daughter through her school exams and was able to successfully demystify the process. They were able to set up a very useful revision plan together and work with a variety of methods to build my daughter’s coursework and exam confidence! Cannot recommend enough!
