About Joel
I'm Joel, a third-year medical student at UCL with a genuine passion for science and helping others succeed. I started tutoring because I know firsthand how much the right guidance can make a difference; the study techniques and support I had access to were a big part of how I achieved 10 grade 9s at GCSE and 4 A*s at A-Level.
I want to give students that same advantage. Beyond the grades, I find real satisfaction in seeing a student go from confused to confident, and I bring the same patience and care I've developed through volunteering with children and adults with diverse needs into every session."

My tutoring sessions are tailored to each student's individual needs, whether they are aiming to build confidence, close knowledge gaps, or push for the highest grades.
I work with GCSE students in Biology, Chemistry, Physics and Maths, as well as sixth formers applying to Medicine who need support with their personal statement or interview preparation.
Sessions typically last one hour, though I am flexible depending on the student's needs and workload. I focus on building genuine understanding rather than rote memorisation, using techniques such as active recall, spaced repetition and targeted past paper practice. These are the same methods I used to achieve 10 grade 9s at GCSE, 4 A*s at A-Level, and a Merit in my first year at UCL Medical School
