  • 1) When did you develop an interest in your subject and in private tutoring?

My passion for mathematics began early in life-around primary school-when I realized how satisfying it was to solve problems and uncover patterns. The logical structure and clarity of math fascinated me. I started tutoring during university, helping classmates and younger students, and quickly discovered how rewarding it is to help others grasp concepts that once seemed difficult. That's when I knew teaching was something I wanted to pursue seriously.
  • 2) Tell us more about the subject you teach, the topics you like to discuss with students (and possibly those you like a little less).

I teach mathematics across various levels-from foundational arithmetic and algebra to calculus and statistics. I particularly enjoy discussing problem-solving strategies, mathematical reasoning, and real-world applications of math. Geometry and algebra are favorites because they allow for visual and logical exploration. While I appreciate all areas of math, I find rote memorization-heavy topics like certain formulaic aspects of trigonometry less engaging unless they're tied to deeper understanding.
  • 3) Did you have any role models? Perhaps a teacher that inspired you?

Yes! I had a high school math teacher who made every lesson feel like a discovery. She had a way of turning abstract concepts into relatable stories and always encouraged curiosity. Her enthusiasm and patience inspired me to adopt a similar approach in my own teaching.
  • 4) What do you think are the qualities required to be a good tutor?

    A good tutor needs:

Patience: Every student learns differently, and it's important to adapt.

Clarity: Explaining complex ideas in simple terms is key.

Empathy: Understanding a student's struggles helps build trust.

Passion: Enthusiasm for the subject is contagious.

Flexibility: Being able to shift teaching methods based on the student's needs.
  • 5) Could you share an anecdote related to your subject or your student days?

During university, I helped a fellow student who was struggling with calculus. She was convinced she just "wasn't a math person." After a few sessions focusing on intuitive understanding rather than formulas, she not only passed her exam but started enjoying the subject. Seeing that transformation was one of the most fulfilling moments of my tutoring journey.
  • 6) Did you face any difficulties at school or university?

Absolutely. In my first year of university, I struggled with abstract algebra-it felt like a completely different language. But I learned to break down the material into manageable parts and sought help from peers and professors. That experience taught me the value of persistence and asking for help, which I now emphasize with my students.
  • 7) Do you have a particular passion? Is it teaching in general, an element of this particular subject, or something completely different?

Teaching is definitely a passion. I love seeing students have "aha!" moments. Beyond that, I'm passionate about making math accessible and enjoyable. I also enjoy exploring how math connects to other fields like physics, economics, and even art. Outside of academics, I'm a fan of chess and logic puzzles-anything that challenges the mind!
  • 8) What makes you a Superprof?

I believe what makes me a Superprof is my commitment to understanding each student's unique learning style and adapting my teaching accordingly. I strive to make math less intimidating and more engaging, using real-life examples, interactive methods, and a lot of encouragement. My goal is not just to help students succeed academically but to help them build confidence in their abilities
