About Madilyn
I do my best to make lessons fun but still worth while. I believe it’s important to tailor the lesson to each child depending on the topic and promise to do my best in this. Everyone learns differently and at different rates and that’s alright. I also try to focus on getting students more comfortable with independent work. While children don’t necessarily have much real responsibility, it’s still important to teach them independence and self-efficacy. I’m always ready to answer questions and encourage they be asked, but want to emphasize these skills now so they have them later in life when they really matter. I’m also a firm believer in doing your own work. I am happy to walk your child through the problem as many times, in as many different ways, as needed for them to understand, so long as they are the ones doing the work. I don’t believe in handing out answers all the time when we’re there to learn. It’s important to meet the student where they’re at and find the best method for them to learn in an engaging and positive way. Learning should be fun!

Both of my parents have been published and instilled in me an appreciation for the written word. I will also always encourage my students to read more. Reading is helpful in so many things and can be very enjoyable if you have the right book or article. I do my best with English specifically to tailor my projects and assignments to my student’s interests if possible.
