About JY&A
I am a New York-based trilingual language coach, fluent in English, French, and Mandarin (native). With over 15 years of international experience in art, culture, and luxury, I bring a global perspective to my teaching. Language is more than just words; it encompasses one's identity, confidence, presence, and cultural fluency. Born in Beijing to a ballerina mother and a university professor father whose passion for literature, photography, and Western opera shaped my early love for art and culture. My journey with languages began early. At the age of six, my grandmother, a devoted Catholic and English speaker, encouraged me to learn the language as a gateway to the world. What initially felt like discipline became the foundation of my lifelong love for languages. I later earned a Bachelor's degree in French and completed a Master's in French literature in Paris, followed by advanced studies in the arts and humanities in the UK. Since then, languages have fueled my passion, which I express through my art career in various settings, from academic lectures to private coaching sessions. Today, I focus on helping executives, families, and art and culture enthusiasts improve their English, French, and Mandarin Chinese with elegance. My lessons are tailored, practical, and engaging, utilizing real-world content to build confidence and clarity. Whether for professional growth, creative learning for children, or cultural conversations, I guide my students to express themselves authentically, naturally, and with refinement. French Lessons – from $75/hr (online) With a Master’s in French Literature from the Sorbonne and years living in Paris, I bring both academic depth and everyday cultural experience. Students learn French as a living language of an elegant culture and lifestyle. Mandarin Lessons – from $35/hr (online) Born and raised in Beijing, I provide authentic Mandarin instruction with clear foundations and cultural insights. My teaching helps beginners, professionals, and families build confidence in real-world communication.
