About Karthick
As a Chemical Engineer from NIT Trichy and an avid reader, I also offer guidance to students aiming to excel in IELTS. My own success in the exam (overall score of 8/9, with L-8.5, R-9, S-7, W-7 in January 2020) demonstrates my ability to help students achieve their target scores in a short period (1-2 weeks of focused preparation). My Teaching Approach: Your Path to IELTS Success
I believe in straightforward and personalized teaching. As a perpetual learner myself, I understand the student mindset and can quickly assess your needs to develop a tailored strategy to help you achieve your best IELTS score.
This will be a two-way partnership. Your input in shaping our strategy is highly valued, ensuring we both maximize our potential. I can train you with effective strategies for both IELTS Academic and General Training.
After each one-hour session, you'll engage in 2-3 hours of independent work. We'll design this self-study together, ensuring it complements our sessions and accelerates your progress.
Proposed IELTS Teaching Strategy
Here's a strategic approach to guide your IELTS preparation:
1. Initial Assessment and Goal Setting
Diagnostic Test: We'll start with a full-length diagnostic IELTS test (Academic or General Training, depending on your goal). This will pinpoint your current strengths and weaknesses across all four modules (Listening, Reading, Writing, Speaking).
Target Score Discussion: Based on the diagnostic results and your aspirations, we'll establish a realistic and ambitious target score.
Personalized Study Plan: Together, we'll outline a customized study plan, breaking down your preparation into manageable phases and modules.
2. Module-Specific Strategy & Practice
Targeted Skill Development: Each session will focus on specific skills within a module. For example, we might dedicate a session to "identifying main ideas in Listening" or "structuring an argumentative essay in Writing."
Strategy Drills: I'll introduce and practice proven IELTS strategies for each question type (e.g., skimming and scanning for Reading, note-taking for Listening, brainstorming for Writing, fluency techniques for Speaking).
Immediate Feedback: During sessions, you'll receive real-time feedback on your performance, allowing for immediate correction and improvement.
3. Independent Practice and Application
Assigned Tasks: After each session, you'll be assigned specific tasks related to the day's lesson. This could include timed practice tests, essay writing, speaking drills, or targeted vocabulary building.
Resource Curation: We'll identify and utilize high-quality IELTS resources (official practice materials, reputable websites, etc.) for your independent study.
Review and Analysis: Your self-study will be reviewed in our subsequent sessions. We'll analyze your performance, discuss challenges, and refine your approach.
4. Progress Monitoring and Adjustment
Regular Mock Tests: Periodically, we'll conduct timed mock tests to simulate exam conditions and track your progress.
Performance Analysis: We'll meticulously analyze your mock test results to identify areas that still require attention and adjust our strategy accordingly.
Confidence Building: Throughout the process, we'll focus on building your confidence, managing exam anxiety, and ensuring you're fully prepared for test day.
5. Exam Day Preparation
Final Review: In the sessions leading up to your exam, we'll conduct a comprehensive review of all modules and strategies.
