About Nathan
My name is Nathan Beausoleil, or NLÖV3 is my artist name. I have played solo, with bands, and currently actively tour with a tribute band called Private Eyes. Singing and guitar and my main passions, but I also really enjoy playing the piano, bass, drums, and used to play sax and trombone. I don't sight read music much anymore and instead fell in love with music theory and charts vs note for note reading. I was an engineering major turned film and music major the University of Texas at Austin. I appreciate all types of music, grew up on pop punk 2000's, classic rock, and pop. However, soul and R&B are some of my favorite genres because of the chords and vocals mainly. I definitely gravitate towards vocal heavy pop R&B these days, but still love rock and blues. Influences include John Mayer, Usher, Guns N Roses, Brian McKnight, Led Zeppelin etc.

2. Song Study: "Stand By Me" by Ben E. King (20 minutes)
Goal: Practice strumming and singing simultaneously. Focus on rhythm and vocal phrasing.
Song Overview:
The song is in the key of A and uses a simple chord progression (A – F#m – D – E).
Emphasis is on keeping a steady rhythm while singing.
Step-by-Step Breakdown:
Guitar Chord Progression (10 minutes)
Teach or review the chord shapes for A, F#m, D, and E.
Practice the transition between the chords slowly, ensuring clear, clean notes. Focus on smooth transitions and timing.
Integrating Vocals (10 minutes)
Sing along with the student, focusing on maintaining pitch and phrasing.
Break the song into manageable sections: Verse, Chorus, Bridge
Use call-and-response technique.
3. Technique Focus: Strumming and Voice Coordination (15 minutes)
Goal: Develop coordination between playing guitar and singing. Practice the rhythm and sync.
Focus on Strumming Patterns (7 minutes)
Practice strumming patterns to a metronome while changing between song sections.
Work through the song, ensuring they can keep the strumming consistent while singing.
Voice and Guitar Coordination (8 minutes)
Ask the student to play the chords with a basic strumming pattern while I help with the vocal melody if needed.
