About Edwin
I have committed to being a lifelong learner and have been doing well on my path. I am a junior in the IB program at my school and have taken and succeeded in multiple AP classes. I have developed a strong understanding of how to learn and how to teach students in my experiences helping friends and self-studying AP Statistics completely on my own (scored a 5). I begin by asking a student what specifically they are having trouble with and come up with practice problems on that topic. I like to work through problems with students and identify any flaws in logic or lack of knowledge that may be causing them trouble. I recognize the importance of rote memorization but unlike other tutors, I know it is not all there is to learning. I focus more on the skills used for math and chemistry problems to ensure students can tackle a variety of problems. I prefer this for the student over simply memorizing the methods for specific types of problems and being lost when something unfamiliar pops up. My lessons are for middle to high school students learning any level of high school math up through AP Calculus BC and IB Math Analysis and Approaches Standard Level. I also teach on-level middle and high school science and Honors chemistry.
