About Ka Long
Having studied in both Hong Kong and the UK, I bring a unique dual perspective to my tutoring. East Asian education is renowned worldwide for its rigorous approach to mathematics and quantitative discipline, instilling strong analytical habits, speed, and deep problem-solving foundations. Combining this with the UK system's emphasis on critical thinking, practical application, and independent reasoning allows me to offer the best of both worlds.
I understand the intense pressures of competitive exam environments, but I also know how to make complex subjects intuitive and engaging. Who I Teach
I tutor students sitting their GCSEs and A-Levels in Maths, Physics, and Biology. Whether your goal is to turn a predicted D into an A, master the hardest topics on the paper, or just build up your confidence heading into exam season, I adapt my teaching to where you are right now and where you need to get to. I cover all major exam boards.
How I Teach
Having studied Sports Science at Birmingham, I look at learning much like training: it has to be structured, personalised, and focused on what actually gets results.
Targeting the gaps: We don't spend time repeating things you already understand. We pinpoint the exact topics or question types where you drop marks and work on those head-on.
Understanding over memorising: Physics formulae, maths steps, and biological systems are much easier to remember when you actually get why they work. I break down tough concepts into simple, logical pieces until it clicks.
Mastering the exam papers: Knowing the subject is only half the battle; knowing what the examiner wants to see is the other half. We work through actual past-paper questions together so you get used to mark schemes, wording, and time management under pressure.
Clear feedback: After every session, you’ll know exactly what you’ve mastered and what we need to focus on next.
Lesson Structure
Duration: 60-minute or 90-minute sessions. For A-Levels, 90 minutes usually works best so we have enough time to dig into complex problems without rushing.
Location: Online.
My Background
I hold a Sports Science degree from the University of Birmingham (ranked #2 in the UK) and earned an A in A-Level Maths. My degree relied heavily on practical maths, biomechanics, and physiology, which gives me a solid, real-world grasp of the sciences. I love helping students cut through the overwhelm, get organised, and feel fully prepared when exam day comes around.
