About Fiona
I graduated from Cambridge University with a First class degree in Biochemistry and have since completed an MSc in Synthetic biology and Biotechnology, and PhD in Biotechnology at the University of Edinburgh. I am a friendly tutor with experience in tutoring all STEM subjects, as well as preparing students for university admissions tests such as the ESAT and BMAT. I achieved 11 A* at GCSE and 4 A* at A-level (Biology, Chemistry, Maths, Further Maths).

I really enjoy teaching students of any level, especially those who are inquisitive about the subject. For my sessions, I can work with you on content your school has set, revise old content or alternatively move onto new content to give you a head start. My priority is always in helping you to achieve your potential, whatever barriers you may face.
I understand the pressures of secondary education and preparations for exams, and I will always do my research to ensure I teach optimally to the syllabus that you follow, using my broad background knowledge of the subject to inject some fun along the way!
I will not expect any preparation, but can provide you with additional questions or web-based resources if desired. I always aim to include a wide range of visual resources and make my sessions interactive to give you lots of chance to practise and consolidate material, using a wide range of teaching styles.
Sessions are typically 1 hr long, with a mixture of practise exercises and theory recap, but can be adapted to the individual. I am happy to provide written feedback, especially to those for whom English is not their first language. I also can offer tutoring beyond the syllabus in preparation for science olympiads/challenges, admissions tests and interview preparation.
