About Ayaan
I grew up in Toronto, Ontario. I attended York Mills CI and began my degree at McGill University in 2020. I major in African Studies with a double minor in Gender Studies and Anthropology. I was a student athlete growing up, playing provincials for soccer in Ontario. I have an avid passion for volunteerism. I as well write articles on Medium, where I try to convey topics that teenagers and students can correlate with. I have a strong passion for inspiring youth and passing my knowledge, as I have travel to an indigenous reserve once a week tutor at a middle school, and help students in their application processes to University.

I believe students need to learn how to write both with unbound creativity, but as well with parameters. I will often tell them to choose a passion or any topic of interest and write about it. I will also give them articles or readings with a prompt to follow for writing a paper. Both these strategies harness difference skills and will help prepare students for university where you are required to have an arsenal of skills when required to write an essay. I will aid the student throughout the process of writing an essay, from formulating an outline and thesis, to their rough draft, and final copy. At the end, I will mark their paper and review it with them to highlight both the strong points and weaknesses in their writing. What differentiates me from other students is that I have gone through all levels of English, history and arts and have succeeded. I have applied my skillset in my university degree, and can utilize my experience to help students prep for their degrees and build a necessary foundation to succeed.
