About Joseph
I'm a university student from the North East of England who wants to help and inspire people in their ability with maths as I believe with time and persistence anyone can achieve excellence in this subject. I've had 2 years of experience in the past I can gladly say that I have made a difference in the lives of my tutees. The tutoring didn't just start 2 years ago though, back when I was still in sixth form I was a reading mentor for younger years who were disadvantaged and weren't able to read proficiently and at the end of the day that's something no one should have to struggle on alone. All in all, I don't want people to feel like they have to struggle on their own and that there is help out there.
Outside of tutoring I'm an avid (albeit currently injured) runner who likes to get outdoors and explore. I have competed in local competitions as well as university competitions across the country. I also enjoy to play video games and it's likely I'll know of a game if you mention it.

When it comes to my lessons I mainly like to use exam style questions (ESQs!) as that way students learn not only how to tackle the question but also what to expect when it comes to them opening that exam paper. The way in which I teach depends on the pupil (as not one style fits all!) which I can easily establish within the first lesson. The typical length of a lesson will be 55 minutes.
I have achieved high level grades in every topic I've every tackled with myself getting an 8 (A*) at GCSE for maths and then an A* at A-level maths. This led to me taking on engineering at Newcastle Uni in which I have achieved a first in my first two years. I also have extensive experience with tutoring as I tutored with MyTutor for 2 years before coming here.
My lessons are for all abilities whether it's a confidence boost you need or building knowledge from the ground up, I'm happy and here to help. Likewise, with age, there is no limit, I am open to tutoring any age group.
Yes, I've done well and achieved high grades but that did not come without struggle (a struggle that I overcame) and it's this struggle that I know and understand how to get you beyond it.
