About Cerys
Hiya! I’m Cerys, currently a 3rd-year Chemistry MSci student at the University of Nottingham. Achieving 10 GCSE’s (A*-B) and A*AA in Maths, Chemistry and Biology respectively at A-Level, I know that one of the main skills needed is not just academic ability, but perseverance. So, I know if a student has the right mindset, they can reach levels they never knew they could, and that’s why I’m so excited to help people achieve the grades they want to! I currently study Chemistry and find it so fascinating and would love to be able to pass on my passion for learning to any prospective student! Outside the classroom, I enjoy playing sports, such as rugby and badminton. I know first-hand how stressful exams can be, so I’m here not just to teach but also be that reassuring figure and increase the student’s confidence! It is important for me to not only make my sessions challenging but also rewarding and enjoying! I would love to hear from interested students, just pop me a message!

Initially, we can have a chat about the student’s main concerns and set some aims and goals around that! After checking through the exam board’s specification for these certain areas, I will be able to come up with a tailored plan for the student and structure my lessons around that. I think one of the best ways of learning is that right at the beginning, I can present the student with a problem and initially, the student can try and complete it as much as possible. Then, when there is a bit of a problem, I’m there to step in and help. I believe this way is a much more engaging method and also helps builds confidence (which is one of the most important qualities needed during exam time!). Being able to give the student a mini-test is a great way for me to assess if the material is actually being grasped for the student and how we should move forward from there!
