About Sofie
Hi there.
My name is Sofie, I am a Fine Art Graduate, I graduated with a 2:1 and am currently training to be a teacher of art, both secondary and A level.
I have a passion for art and everyday I keep myself updated with what is happening in the world of art. As it is changing rapidly day to day, with experimental artists constantly bringing new and interesting ideas into the galleries, and also, interestingly outside of the galleries.
I have an in-depth knowledge on Contemporary art, 1900 till now, but also know a fair amount about the History of art, in particular the Renaissance to the Impressionists.
I aspire to be a teacher of art as during studying Fine Art at University I found that I thoroughly enjoyed helping others to learn as well as myself. I have experience in working with and managing children from ages 12 to 16 at a PGL centre in Spain where I looked after large groups of children for 4 months.
I also have some experience in teaching from signing up to (concealed information) I then for several months taught English to a Japanese student who was working for Honda. To assist my student I created a variety of limericks and sentences which he could practice in order to improve his pronunciation. Within 2 weeks of practice I saw great improvement in his pronunciation which was rewarding for me to have been apart of.
What I am most passionate about teaching is art, as I pride myself on knowing the subject extensively and other information I could use to influence a student to create work, this also includes knowledge of philosophy and modern affairs in the world.
I continue to work diligently on my own art, submitting my work often successfully into exhibitions around the UK and internationally. I also branch out into other artistic areas including producing music and poetry. If you would like to see my work, I would be happy to provide my website for you to look at.
