About Petra
Hello! My name is Petra, and I would love to be your new tutor! I am incredibly passionate about English Literature, and have spent multiple years studying it. It would be great to share this passion with others. I have only recently left formal education, so I am still very familiar with the structure of English classes and assessments in schools and universities. For many people, English can be a very daunting subject. I hope that I can alleviate that feeling for as many students as possible, and help them to succeed!
Additionally, I am equally excited to meet ESL learners, and to help them become more confident. English can be a very confusing and difficult language to learn, and I would love to help you along the journey! I was once an ESL learner too, having moved to the United Kingdom from Hungary when I was 5 years old. Of course, it is easier to learn a foreign language as a small child, but I can empathise with the feelings of frustration which come with learning a new language. I am confident that with my experiences, qualifications, and passion for teaching combined, I can be a supportive and helpful tutor!

I offer two types of English Tuition: English as a Foreign Language, and English Literature
If you are an ESL learner who is already at an intermediate level, I can help you learn grammatical rules, expand your vocabulary, improve your conversational English, and become more confident in using academic language. If you work in the arts, or take a keen interest in literature, theatre and film, I would be a particularly good fit for you!
If you are a UK based student preparing for exams, I have a vast amount of experience with exam and essay preparation. During my time in education I have consistently received high marks in English Assessments, and have developed various learning styles which I would love to share. I have personal experience within the Scottish education system, in which I completed National 5, Higher, and Advanced Higher examinations. However, with my university qualifications, I am more than happy to take on non-Scottish students as well!
I also welcome anyone who is out of education, and is looking to improve their writing skills, reading comprehension, or general literacy!
Regardless of which area of English tuition you are looking for, my lessons will be conducted using a tailored approach for each student. As your tutor, I will focus on your goals and your learning style, to ensure that you’re getting the most out of your time with me. As such, in our first lesson together, I will ascertain the level which you are at, and spend time discussing a lesson plan that suits your needs and availability!
