About Elijah
Teaching guitar over 8 years has taught me the importance of patience, adaptability, and connection in music education. Every student comes with their own goals, challenges, and learning preferences, and I design lessons to meet those needs. I emphasize building a strong technical foundation—proper hand position, clean chord changes, and steady rhythm—while integrating theory and creativity to deepen musical understanding. I use songs that excite each student to maintain motivation and provide practical contexts for new skills. One of my proudest moments was helping a student overcome performance anxiety and successfully play an original piece at a community event. I also encourage exploring improvisation, composition, and different genres to foster artistic growth. I leverage technology like metronomes, backing tracks, and recording tools to enhance practice and learning outside lessons. Above all, I strive to cultivate a positive and patient environment where students feel supported and confident. Whether you want to play for fun, perform live, or write music, I’m committed to helping you enjoy and succeed with the guitar.

Every student learns Guitar for a different reason, and I believe those reasons should guide how we learn. Whether you're drawn to it for creative self-expression, relaxation, connection, or performance, I adapt my teaching to match your goals and style. We start with what matters to you—favorite songs, artists, or genres—and use that as the base for learning everything else.
From rhythm and technique to theory and songwriting, we shape our lessons around what excites and motivates you. When you're emotionally invested in the music you're playing, practice stops feeling like a chore and becomes something you look forward to.
I believe progress is built on small, consistent wins, so I focus on building confidence one step at a time. I aim to keep things challenging enough to push you forward, but always within reach so you feel successful. When something’s hard, we work through it patiently and creatively. I use a mix of logical and intuitive strategies to help you understand what’s going on, both technically and musically. I won’t just tell you to "keep practicing"—I’ll show you how to practice smarter and more effectively. My feedback is honest but always encouraging. I believe in teaching with integrity: no sugarcoating, but no harshness either. You’ll always know what you’re doing well and where to focus next.
I also understand that people learn differently. Some students need structure and theory; others thrive by jamming or figuring things out by ear. I adjust my approach to suit your strengths so that learning feels natural and enjoyable. Outside of Guitar technique, I offer guidance in things like improvisation, music theory, and building the confidence to perform. My goal is to help you become not just a better Guitarist, but a more expressive, empowered musician overall.
