I have a B.S. in Mechanical Engineering, and 5 years work experience before changing my career plans. I have tutored individual students for test prep, and also worked at Mathnasium, and decided to become a teacher at my students' recommendations.

My teaching method is to quickly identify the specifics of the topic which my student is struggling with, then using leading questions to guide my student to understanding. My goal is for my students to not only get the material, but also to develop the skills for independent learning and discovery. I provide immediate positive feedback, and encourage my students to see assignments as puzzles rather than drudgery. In addition, I have picked up a number of tricks which make solving math problems faster and more interesting, and share those as opportunities arise.

I charge for travel if I have to drive 15 miles or more, and for any tolls. I can split charges for pairs or trios of students, and I am willing to negotiate rates for local clients.
