About Sian
Hi, I'm Siân! I'm a full-time teaching assistant and part-time English tutor with a first-class BA in English and philosophy. I have 2 years of tutoring experience in English literature and language. I have also taught epistemology and ethics whilst at university. I am CPD-accredited, safeguarding-trained from 3 separate organisations and studying for a level 3 award in supporting teaching and learning. I'm aiming to complete my MA in English in the next two years, then move onto a PhD. I'm very patient, friendly and empathetic. My lesson plans revolve around the individual academic needs of each pupil. I try my best to make lessons engaging, informative and fun!

I've taught children from Reception class up to Year 11, but would happily take on an A-Level student. I have previous experience also preparing primary school children for their 11+ examinations via critiquing creative writing pieces and tutoring pupils, alongside discussing progress with parents. I am currently tutoring GCSE students from disadvantaged backgrounds with a charity, and have found it very rewarding! I liaise with the pupils' teachers, discuss any shortcomings and objectives, then lesson-plan and initiate tutorials myself. I am accustomed to both in-person tutorials and online tutorials using screen-sharing, webcams, microphones, shared text annotating and shared whiteboards.
