1. Breathing - The Engine
Singing is just controlled breathing.

- *Posture:* Feet shoulder-width, shoulders relaxed, chin level. Don't lift your chin to hit high notes.
- *Diaphragm breath:* Put hand on your belly. Breathe in through nose for 4 counts - your BELLY should expand, not your chest. Breathe out through mouth on a hiss "ssss" for 8 counts. Belly slowly goes in.
- Practise this 2 mins daily. This is 80% of singing.

2. Warm-Up (Do this EVERY time before singing, 5 mins)
Don't sing cold.

1. *Lip trill:* Blow air through closed lips like a horse: brrrr. Do scales: brrrr up and down. Relaxes you.
2. *Sirens:* Say "ng" like in "sing" - slide from your lowest to highest note like a siren: "weeeee". 3 times.
3. *Do-Re-Mi:* On "mum-mum-mum" sing: do-re-mi-fa-sol-la-ti-do and back down. Start easy, in middle of your voice.

3. Find Your True Voice
Most beginners push from the throat and it hurts.

- *Try this:* Say "hey!" like you're calling a friend far away. Feel that buzz in your mask/nose? That's resonance. That's where singing should feel, not in your throat.
- Sing "mum" instead of "ah" at first. It forces the sound forward and protects your voice.
- If your throat hurts, you're doing it wrong. Stop, drink water, go back to breathing.

4. Stay In Tune - The 2-Minute Drill
- Download a free piano app.
- Play one note (like C4). Sing it back on "ah". Record yourself on your phone and listen back - you'll hear instantly if you're flat/sharp.
- Do this with 5 notes daily. Your ear trains super fast.

5. Your First Song Practice
Pick ONE easy song - like "Lean On Me" or "You Are My Sunshine" - not Mariah Carey.

1. Hum the whole song first.
2. Then sing it on "mum mum mum"
3. Finally sing with lyrics, but 50% volume. Soft singing teaches control. Loud singing hides mistakes.

*Daily 15-min routine:*
Breathing (2 min) -> Lip trills (2 min) -> Sirens (2 min) -> Pitch matching (3 min) -> One song softly (6 min)

Consistency > talent. 2 weeks of this and you'll hear a big difference.

Tell me:
1. Are you a beginner or have you sung before?
2. What kind of music do you want to sing? Church, pop, rap, amapiano?

I can give you exact warm-ups for your voice type and style.
