About Tish
I am passionate about literature and issues of social justice. I have a Journalism Arts Diploma, a Bachelor of Arts - English, and a Bachelor of Education - Secondary ELA. I have four years of tutoring experience, both at elementary and secondary levels. In particular, I have a lot of experience with English Language Learners. I also have experience in teaching both ELA (IB as well) and Social Studies at the secondary level.

I believe in structuring lessons/sessions around a student's particular learning needs. Education is not "one size fits all". I use tactics such as multimodality (visuals, videos, music, graphic novels, podcasts, etc.), students' interests, and popular culture. Learning doesn't have to be dry, and in fact, when it interests students it promotes better retention.
