I usually follow with the scheme of work to deliver effectively, but sometimes, a student might need to be taken through a series of subjects before he/she can can really understand what is in the scheme.
for example; A scheme might require the teacher to teach how to identify and construct compound and complex sentences, but the student might not understand phrases and clauses, which are the most content in sentence construction. so with that, as a teacher, I will have to understand my students' need first.
