  • 1) When did you first develop a passion for music and your favorite instrument?

I have been playing music my whole life, but passion came later. In the young ages of childhood: sports, friends and extra-curricular activities were my main “concern”, but I always enjoyed the times of my lessons and my practice. Over the years, after changing several teachers, I realized how important a guided mentor was—not just a teacher, but someone who inspired me to find meaning in music. That guidance propelled me to a top conservatory on the other side of the world, and ever since, the piano has been at the center of my life—always on my mind, even when I’m not playing.
  • 2) Is there a particular type of music or artist that you listen to on a loop without it driving you crazy?

I live and breathe classical music. I play it all day long. But over time I found that all genres have their own identity and their own affect on my personality. I listen to symphonic music when I walk through a park or a river, I listen to Michael Jackson when I am in the shower, I listen to Bobby Darin at a sunset view, I listen to ACDC when I go to the gym…. and so on. Every genre has its identity and that is why I love teaching students their favourite songs, pieces and tunes. No music drives me crazy, everything has something to offer.
  • 3) Explain to us the most difficult or riveting course you could personally give to a student of music.

To me, difficulty depends on the student. I believe that each one has their individual drive, ability, imagination and musical thought process. What’s truly hard is teaching someone to perform with composure and character. My constant goal as a teacher is to make each student reach that goal in the fastest, most effective way possible. Nothing is easy in music. Even a simple C major scale can be incredibly difficult if played with true musicality and intention. I guess the course could be: How to “perfectly” play a C Major scale with musicality and intention. Some may find this as a joke… but the ones who don’t will truly take the most out of it.
  • 4) What do you think is the most complicated instrument to master and why?

I have probably been asked this question more than 100 times in my life. I am of the opinion that at the highest level, every instrument is equally complex. Mastery always requires sacrifice. But if I had to choose, I would say conducting. It is where all music comes together: the responsibility of shaping every note, every musician, every breath. That is both the most challenging and the most awe-inspiring task.
  • 5) What are your keys to success?

For me, success comes down to three things: Discipline, Passion, Character. Show up every day with those, and extraordinary things become possible. Simple to say, hard to do—but it’s the path I’ve chosen to follow.
  • 6) Name three musicians you dream of meeting in your favourite bar in the early hours of the morning. Explain why.

Now this question.. I have never been asked. But I would have to go with idols from the past.

First, has to be Beethoven. Likely to be found in a bar anyway, but more importantly, he’s one of humanity’s greatest figures. The One whose music has inspired millions of people to love it. He is a godly figure to me. I would ask him: “How? How can you inspire and create such greatness?”

Second.. would be Prokofiev. One of my favourite composers right now. His composition output is one of the broadest we have ever seen. From solo works, to symphonies, to ballets, to operas, to film and so on.. I would love to ask him how he was always so motivated to write even in the difficulties of war, divorce, opposing regimes, contrasting ideologies etc.

And third, a living legend: Yo-Yo Ma, since it is also quite likely to happen as he lives across the river. The pedagogical, innovative, caring, and out-of-the-box thinking he gives to the world makes him, in my opinion, one of the most special artists of our generation. I think in a bar setting I would ask him how he lived the transformation of classical music in the 21st century and what he thinks the 22nd century of music will bring.
  • 7) Provide a valuable anecdote related to music or your days at music school.

One of my first days in the U.S. as a freshman was during a blizzard in winter time. With the conservatory closed, I hunted all night for a piano to prepare Chopin’s 2nd Scherzo for my first lesson. It went well—until my professor immediately asked me to learn the 3rd Scherzo for the next week. I had never learned anything that fast, but I had to pull a straight face and say yes. Eight-hour practice days became twelve, and though my first attempt fell very short, that cycle repeated for over 3 years. What I gained wasn’t just repertoire—it was the realization that discipline and persistence can stretch you far beyond what you thought you could do.
  • 8) What are the little touches that make you a Superprof in music?

At every lesson I push students to the best of their ability, but always with patience, humor, creativity, and above all—efficiency. I adapt to each student: sometimes teaching their favorite pop song to keep them inspired, other times refining a single scale until it carries intention and musicality. I bring energy to every session with the belief that music isn’t just notes; it’s a way of imagining, living, and connecting with ourselves. Those touches, making each student feel heard, challenged, and inspired, are what set me apart.
