About Surjo
Music to me is a form of worship and a pathway to Ishq-e Haqeeqi (divine love). I truly believe that music can make the world a better place. The musical genres of Khayal, Ghazal and Sufi songs are part of our collective heritage and we must practice and preserve it for upcoming generations.

I teach Hindustani classical music with a focus on Ghazals and Sufi songs (Aarifaana Kalaam). The taaleem includes not just singing but also properly understanding the raga(s) on which a song is based, the meaning and context of the lyrics and the emotions behind them. It also includes learning the Urdu and Farsi languages as that knowledge is essential to understand this genre of music.
