About Ava
My goal is to prove to all students that they are, in fact "math people". While math can often feel very overwhelming, and as though it is its very own foreign language, my aim is to help students to understand the work in front of them on a deeper level, so that they are able to carry that knowledge with them for the rest of their education in mathematics.

When I learn math, I prioritize understanding the "why" behind the problems at hand. Relation and real-world application help me to obtain the bigger picture, and understand how to workshop problems further down the road. When I teach, I put priority in helping my students to understand math in a rational way, rather than just a simple "do -> repeat" strategy. This approach makes math not seem quite as overwhelming.
