About Lewis
About Me
I am a dedicated Biomedical Sciences student at the University of Bristol, driven by a lifelong fascination with how the world works at a cellular level. My academic journey has been defined by a rigorous focus on the STEM subjects, having successfully navigated the challenges of A-Level Biology, Chemistry, and Core Maths, alongside a broad set of 10 GCSEs including Triple Science.
Professionalism & Reliability
Beyond my academic credentials, I bring a level of professionalism and dependability honed in high-pressure, fast-paced environments. Whether managing front-of-house operations or supporting complex kitchen services for 200 guests, I have consistently been trusted with key responsibilities, including opening and closing shifts and the training of new team members. I apply this same proactive attitude and commitment to excellence to my tutoring, ensuring that every session is organised, punctual, and productive.
Why I Tutor
My passion for teaching started at home. I’ve spent the last few years helping my younger brother and sister excel in their GCSEs. This experience taught me that academic success isn't just about memorising facts; it’s about building a student's confidence and finding the specific way they process information. I take pride in being a friendly and approachable mentor who can bridge the gap between a dense textbook and a lightbulb moment.
Subject Mastery:
My current degree provides me with a deep, technical understanding of human physiology and research techniques.Adaptability: I am skilled at switching between complex scientific theory and practical, easy-to-understand explanations.
Proven Communication:
My background in customer service means I am an expert at building professional rapport and communicating effectively with both students and parents.

About Me & My Approach
My approach to tutoring is centred on building confidence and clarity. Having balanced a rigorous BSc in Biomedical Sciences with fast-paced roles in the service industry, I have developed the ability to break down complex, technical information into digestible, easy-to-understand steps.
I believe that every student learns differently, so I adapt my style to match their pace. Whether we are tackling human physiology or algebraic equations, my goal is to foster a proactive attitude towards problem-solving.
Teaching Methodology & Techniques
Active Recall & Spaced Repetition: I use techniques derived from my scientific studies to help students move information from short-term to long-term memory.Past Paper Mastery: We focus heavily on exam technique and understanding exactly what examiners are looking for in Triple Science and Maths.
Relatable Examples: I use my experience helping my younger brother and sister with their GCSEs to explain concepts using simple, real-world analogies.
Scaffolded Learning: I start with the foundations of a topic and gradually increase the difficulty, ensuring the student never feels overwhelmed.Lesson Logistics
Target Audience: My lessons are primarily designed for GCSE students (Ages 14-16) and Primary/KS3 students looking to build a strong foundation in STEM.
Lesson Length: A typical session lasts 60 minutes, though I offer 90-minute intensive sessions for those approaching exam season or needing extra support in complex subjects like Chemistry or Biology.
Qualifications & Experience
