About Melissa
My name is Melissa and I am a fresh graduate from Monash University. I have a Bachelors of Business and Commerce, majoring in both Marketing and Business Analytics. Marketing is a writing-heavy major as many research proposals are drafted to develop a campaign.
I am seeking a temporary job in tutoring students on a subject that I am confident about as I am taking a short break before continuing in a corporate role.
I grew up in an English-speaking household and attended an English-speaking international school, so English is my native language and I am most definitely confident on my knowledge of this subject. I enjoy reading and writing short stories, and I fuel my imagination and creativity with content I see online nowadays.
I have a younger brother and I often tutor him for English and Maths as I am confident in these subjects. He's results have shown a significant improvement through my tutoring, bringing him from a C student to an A student which he achieved in his IGCSE exams.

I adopt a passive teaching methodology where I guide and prompt the students to find an answer to their problem. English is a subject that requires patience and discipline, hence I will give the students short reading assignments to complete and discuss in the next lessons. For younger students with shorter attention span, I adopt a reward system to incentivise and motivate them to complete the work or focus on the lesson.
I have been in an international school for 8 years hence I am familiar with the English subject and requirements. I have also taken the Cambridge IGCSE English Language and English Literature exams, scoring an A and A* in the respective subjects. In my university, I have written several research papers hence I am knowledgeable about the factual writing format.
My lessons are for students from year 1 to year 6. I have a strong foundation in English and am capable of teaching basic English starting from phonics. Each lesson will span for a duration of 1 hour but it is flexible and can be discussed further depending on the student's needs.
