About Ayo
Hey! My name is Ayo and I am currently studying Economics and Industrial Organisations at the University of Warwick.
My tutoring journey started in 2018 when I first volunteered at a primary school called St John Fisher. It was there where I saw first-hand how I, an individual, can cultivate the expertise of several students. Due to my assistance, the number students who had to stay behind to practise their spelling after tests halved by the end of the academic year. It was this empirical evidence of the impact I can have on students that motivated me to continuously pursue an academic role.
Succeeding my volunteer work, I undertook a tutoring role for the prestigious company Explore Learning. Analogous to volunteering role, I witnessed my students grow intellectually and even achieved an employee ‘shout out’ for my teaching methods.
My mentor role expands past academics. Fun fact, I am a black belt in Taekwondo. As a senior, I help teach junior students during classes as well as coach them during tournaments. I am also joining a mentor scheme that would help first-year university students secure a 'Spring Week'. I have a strong passion for seeing others prosper as a result of my efforts and wish to continue as a mentor/tutor for as long as I can.

My lessons would entail an in depth break down of theories step by step, coinciding with illustrations to provide a visual representation of what is being taught. I believe that an empirical approach is the best way in which students can thoroughly grasp abstract concepts.
A typical lesson can range from 30 minutes to 2 hours depending on your personal preference.
With regards to experience, I worked as a tutor for Explore Learning for four months. Explore Learning is a tuition company that focuses on tutoring kids between the ages of six and four-teen. Here I would tutor up to six students at a time, enhancing both their mathematical and literacy skills. Although, working with the younger children involved me focusing more on phonics and handwriting.
I also volunteered as a teaching assistant at St John Fisher Primary School in St Albans from September 2018 to June 2019. I attended the primary school every Friday afternoon to help teach Year 2 pupils. I read with students, correcting their pronunciation when necessary. I also stayed behind after class to help students who either didn’t complete their homework or had low spelling scores.
My lessons range, I can teach from 11+ all the way to A Level. With regards to age, my lessons will be suitable for anyone still in school, whether that be primary, secondary, or college.
