About Sophia
I have worked as a Tutor for one year teaching student from Yr 2 to GCSE Level
I have also taught classes of up to 15 children.
As I am still a student I have an excellent understanding on how student learn an the best way to engage them and help them to stay focused for long periods of time.

Each class is broken in three stages: Understanding, Retaining and making connections.
It easy when preparing for exams such as the 11 plus to get lost in all the small details of each topic.
I believe it is important to first have a good overview and understanding of the whole exam and then work on retaining the information through active recall.
I also make sure to avoid passive learning such as answering the same type of question again and again. This results in the student creating shortcuts and ultimately not fully using their brain.
By keeping the topics fresh and switching them as soon as the student gets the hang of it, it ensures that they are always working their brain hard to retain and apply, resulting in stronger connections.
