About Douglas
Having studied English since I was 10 years old, I used books such as Longman, Macmillan, Pearson etc, I also studied with Cel Lep methodology and in Brazilian Language Franchises, such as CNA and Cultura Inglesa. In 2011 I obtained FCE and CAE, certificates of Intermediate and Advanced English by Cambridge exams, through Cultura Inglesa. I worked in vocational schools as an English language teacher as a freelancer since 2008, as well as registered, in Language franchises, such as Minds, Wizard, PBF and SKILL from 2010 to 2020. I am currently studying Languages at UNIP on-line since 2017. At the moment I am prioritizing online classes, in view of current events that require social distance.

Believing in Multiple Intelligences, I do not see that there is only one teaching method, and therefore through previous dialogue with the student, together we decide the approach that will be most effective. It can be mixed with conversation, writing, reading and listening or grammar, using materials such as photos, slides, videos, audios, etc. I believe that a little grammar (the rules of the language) is needed to know how to use it more consciously and efficiently, because without the rules the use is very intuitive. And thanks to the rules we don't use terms like 'we goes', 'he go', 'we stays'! So knowing a little grammar helps a lot to use the language in a presentable way, keeping in mind that there are linguistic freedoms like regionalism, among others. My intention is to guide the student in the long term to know how to use the language without needing to be instinctively, to promote the autonomy of complementary studies at home, and to use the classes eventually more as a way of training and practicing, than necessarily new material. A teacher does not want to arrest his student forever, he has to move on and, who knows, teach other people in the future!
