About Jolien
I am Jolien, 20 years old and a student at the university in Ghent. Ever since I was little I had a huge interest in history and everything related to it. History was one of my best subjects in secondary school, so the choice to study history was an easy one.
In secondary school I also regularly helped my fellow students with their studies and that always gave me enormous satisfaction. Becoming a secondary school teacher after my studies is therefore definitely something I am thinking about.

History is often seen as a boring subject where everything has to be learned by heart, but history is much more than that. Insights, making connections, ... are all parts of the profession. Step by step I take my student through a period of time to learn these competences. In an interactive way with many video fragments, maps and photos I take you back in time.
I am in my second bachelor year at the university so my lessons are mainly intended for secondary school level. A first-year university student can always contact me for additional explanation and study tips!
