About Andres
I am a Biological Engineer and hold an M.Sc. in Biotechnology from Universidad Nacional de Colombia – Sede Medellín. I have developed research work during more than six years about physicochemical and biological processes, particularly in the adsorption of pollutants onto lignocellulosic materials. My academic profile includes a theoretical foundation in molecular techniques, microbiological processes, bioprocess modeling, biochemical engineering and bioremediation. Also, in 2017 I developed a research internship at the Universidade de Santiago de Compostela (Spain) in the Group of Environmental Biotechnology. I have started my Ph.D. studies at the University of Alberta. Finally, during my career, I was a teacher assistant for two years and I gave private math and biochemistry lessons; therefore, with my teaching experience and my native level of Spanish, I strongly believe that I could teach how to improve and master this language in its four essential skills.

My teaching method is based on the practice and improvement of the four essential skills required for effectively communicating in any language, in this case in Spanish. I always prepare some teaching outlines and materials in advance; however, I also recognize that the learning curve of each person is different as well as the interests or the urgency to improve some particular skill. On the other hand, I would like to point out that my method is not rigid, neither totally flexible; but I like to listen to the student previously, know his/her expectations and then I design a teaching outline which could be modified by the student anytime. Finally, for me as a teacher, time is not as important as how much the student learned and how satisfied he/she is with these learnings.

Perfect! Created a great, relaxing environment to learn. Very flexible with times for having lessons. Would recommend to anyone looking really enjoy learning Spanish :)

Perfect! Andres is very easy to understand, he speaks very clear. He knows the grammar very well and always seems to know what I am saying even when I am not saying it right. He is very patient and brings lots of materials to the lesson, such as worksheets and other readings we go over. I've been giving him various writings and he will correct them and give them back with lots of feedback. He corrects me when I am saying something wrong, and I appreciate this! We also have many conversations which allows me to practice speaking which I need for my job. My level has went up since starting lessons with Andres, and I am learning proper grammar. He is also very nice and extremely intelligent and I am happy he takes the time to give me Spanish lessons. It is a pleasure for me to study with Andres!! He is an excellent Spanish teacher!!

He likes to share everything he knows without any hesitation. He respects people and want to help them in any way possible. He is a very dedicated and responsible person as well. He is an easy going person and I believe he won't have any problem to communicate and understand people from different backgorund.
