I reread my lessons before helping the person so as not to be mistaken, and my method is to remain calm so as not to stress or annoy. I seek precisely to congratulate when there is success in order to give confidence and push to try again to succeed. If the person does not understand in one way, I explain in another... I have a facility mainly in maths (and svt thanks to medicine), which can allow me to find THE right way to explain to the student.
