About Suzy
With a B.S. in Computer Science, a Spanish minor, and a certificate in Bioinformatics, I bring a strong analytical background and a deep understanding of problem-solving to my math tutoring. I’ve spent over seven years tutoring peers in subjects like math, Spanish, Arabic, and computer science, giving me the experience to explain complex concepts in clear, approachable ways that truly resonate with students. Currently pursuing my MBA, I’ve developed an even greater ability to communicate effectively, adapt to different learning styles, and create structured, confidence-building lessons. My teaching approach focuses on breaking down challenging topics—whether it’s pre-algebra, algebra, geometry, or calculus—into simple, intuitive steps using visuals, patterns, real-world examples, and multiple solution methods so each student can find the strategy that feels easiest for them. A typical lesson includes a warm-up to assess understanding, a clear breakdown of the topic, guided practice, and personalized feedback that helps students build mastery without feeling overwhelmed. What sets me apart is my combination of strong technical expertise and a warm, encouraging teaching style. I create an environment where students feel comfortable asking questions, exploring new ideas, and rebuilding their confidence in math, no matter their background. My tutoring is ideal for middle school, high school, college students, and adult learners who want math to finally make sense. Outside academics, I enjoy crocheting, reading, lifting, baking, riding my motorcycle, and learning languages—interests that help me connect with students and keep lessons engaging, human, and enjoyable. My goal is simple: to help every student feel capable, supported, and genuinely confident in their math journey.

My tutoring approach is designed to make math from pre-algebra to algebra, geometry, and even calculus—feel clear, logical, and genuinely easier to understand. I break every topic into simple, intuitive steps, using visual models, color-coding, patterns, and real-world examples that help students grasp the why behind the math, not just the formulas. In pre-algebra and algebra, I use number stories, equation-building techniques, and step-by-step problem breakdowns to eliminate confusion around variables, expressions, and functions. In geometry, I bring diagrams to life with sketches, spatial reasoning tricks, and memorization shortcuts that make shapes, angles, and proofs feel less overwhelming. For calculus, I simplify big ideas like limits, derivatives, and integrals with graphs, analogies, and structured practice that makes even advanced topics feel accessible. A typical lesson includes a quick warm-up, a focused explanation of the core concept, guided practice, multiple problem-solving methods, and personalized feedback to build confidence and accuracy. What sets me apart is my ability to adapt to each student’s pace and learning style while making math feel calm, approachable, and even exciting. My lessons are perfect for middle school, high school, college students, and adult learners who want clearer explanations, stronger skills, or a fresh start with math. No matter where you are, I help you feel capable, confident, and in control of every topic.
