About Shannon
I'm a Fitness Coach at a boutique studio in the Houston Spring Branch area. I coach individuals from ages 20-65 years old and tailor my workout programs/details to each individual's unique levels of fitness.
I am a former high school volleyball player - I played 2 years of libero, 2 years of setter.
I'm looking to coach youth/teenage girls in volleyball, strength & conditioning to help them grow into the athlete they aspire to be.

Teaching Method and Techniques:
Progressive Learning: I believe in building skills progressively, starting from the basics and gradually advancing to more complex techniques. This ensures a solid foundation for players to develop their abilities effectively.
Hands-On Demonstrations: I incorporate hands-on demonstrations to illustrate proper techniques and movements. Visualizing correct form is crucial for students to understand how to execute skills accurately.
Individualized Feedback: Each student has unique strengths and areas for improvement. I provide personalized feedback to help students identify their strengths and address any weaknesses, tailoring my guidance to meet their specific needs.
Drills and Repetition: Practice makes perfect. I design drills that target specific skills and encourage repetition to reinforce muscle memory and improve proficiency.
Game Simulations: In addition to drills, I simulate game scenarios during practice sessions to help students understand the strategic aspects of volleyball. This includes positioning, teamwork, and decision-making under pressure.
Typical Lesson Plan:
Warm-up: A dynamic warm-up routine to prepare the body for physical activity, including stretching, mobility exercises, and light cardio.
Skill Focus: Each lesson focuses on a specific skill or aspect of the game, such as serving, passing, setting, spiking, blocking, or defensive techniques. I break down the skill into its fundamental components and provide step-by-step instructions.
Drills and Practice: Students engage in drills designed to reinforce the targeted skill. These drills vary in intensity and complexity based on the students' proficiency levels.
Game Play: I incorporate game play to apply the skills learned in a real-world context. This allows students to experience the dynamics of gameplay and practice teamwork and decision-making under pressure.
Cool Down: A cooldown period to gradually lower the heart rate and stretch the muscles, reducing the risk of injury and promoting recovery.
What Sets Me Apart:
Holistic Approach: I prioritize not only skill development but also the overall well-being of my students. This includes physical fitness, mental toughness, and sportsmanship.
Personalized Attention: I take the time to understand each student's strengths, weaknesses, and goals, providing individualized guidance and support throughout their learning journey.
Innovative Training Methods: I continuously explore new training methods and techniques to keep lessons engaging and effective. Whether it's incorporating technology or integrating unconventional drills, I strive to keep my teaching approach dynamic and relevant.
Lessons for:
All Levels: My lessons cater to players of all skill levels, from beginners to advanced athletes. I adjust the complexity and intensity of the drills and exercises based on the individual needs of each student.
Age Groups: Whether teaching youth leagues, high school teams, college athletes, or recreational players, my lessons are adaptable to different age groups and experience levels.
Teams or Individuals: I offer lessons for both teams and individuals, providing group training sessions as well as one-on-one coaching for those seeking more personalized attention or focused skill development.
Overall, my goal as a volleyball tutor and fitness coach is to empower my students to reach their full potential as athletes while instilling a love for the sport and a commitment to lifelong physical fitness.
