About Demetra
I have 17 years of experience as a paraprofessional in autism ages 3-21 years. I have 2 years of experience as a paraprofessional working with students with learning disabilities. I am currently a special education teacher. I also have ADHD and understand the difficulties of staying focused and being motivated to get your assignments done, especially if you don't have interest in the topic. I know that not everyone learns the same way. And in a lot of cases, students struggle with the subject not because they are not capable of learning the material; it is because they may need it to be taught in a different way. And that is okay.

I believe that learning should be fun. I like doing science experiments, acting out plays (in history and literature), writing plays from Literature that make more sense when they are applied today. I believe learning should be more hands-on with visuals in order to gain a better understanding of what is being taught versus lecturing.
